We will wonder around… El Mercat de Sant Antoni In 2009 closed its doors for a complete renovation, and finally, a few months before we said goodbye to 2018, we welcomed the reopening of this amazing market. The building is already breathtakingly beautiful from the outside. A large structure made in ironwork with four arms that join in a Modernist style octagonal dome. Sant Antoni is not just a market, but a three in one! Here you will find the best gastronomy, fashion and vintage decor and… It’s a Sunday Market (the only one in the city). One of our favorite things to do whenever we are in the area is to get in the market to walk around, fill our lungs with the myriad of aromas of the scents and randomly sit in any of its tiny bars and delight our palates with some of the dishes, elaborated with the freshest products.Gastronomic novelties to welcome this 2019
How is your 2019 going so far? A new year has started and from Carner Barcelona, we cannot feel more excited about it! We are working on new amazing scents that we hope you love as much as we do. In the meantime, we want to share with you some of the culinary novelties in Barcelona and that we will definitely not miss. As you know, our city is our favorite place to enjoy and, of course, our main source of inspiration so we’re in constant search of what’s new.
We will eat at… Zero Patatero
We can find one of the latest gastronomic openings in El Born quarter. A slow food bistrot that works 0Km products in a unique, easy-going and accessible way, and completes the offer with natural and organic wines, the perfect pairing!
Its “local-product-based” philosophy focuses on extreme-season vegetables, without leaving aside organic meats and sustainable fish.
We really cannot wait to try their paellas!
We will travel without leaving Barcelona at… Sun Taka
This is Mitsu Taka Kawata’s most personal project. This chef formed in Osaka, his natal city, managed to work in the kitchen of Can Fabes and Ferrero, before starting to work, 4 years ago, as the sushiman of El Cercle d’Artistes in Barcelona.
Mitsu is obsessed with perfection in all senses; his technique is hard to beat and the quality of the product used in any of his dishes is always excellent.
With the opening of his own Japanese tavern in Bruc with Diagonal, he’s finally fulfilling a dream: to express himself with his best cuisine.
Manel Lapuerta helps him with the hot dishes, another excellent cook who worked with Albert Ventura at Coure and Toni Romero from El Suculent.
We will go for a cocktail at… The Alchemix
The xef Sergi Palacín and the mixologist Ignacio Ussía have brought together their talents to open this gastro-cocktail bar that works in accordance with the alchemist principles. Two Young talents from Barcelona turned into real alchemists, in their search for the formula for the eternal life.
The two 'alchemixts', met each other working in the best restaurant in Asia (Gaggan, Bangkok, currently considered the number 5 in the World).
The Alchemix combines the best flavors and scents from two Worlds, the Asian and the Mediterranean. The result? A fest for the diner in every sip, and bite!
