September in Barcelona
September is already here and we leave holidays behind. But this does not mean that fun is over; the weather is still amazing, days are long and Barcelona is more active than ever! Concerts, art exhibitions, festivities… Let’s enjoy “la rentrée”!!
A terrace for any time of the day: A slow breakfast in a hidden garden in the heart of the city center, an afterwork with panoramic views… Any excuse is good to take the most of the balmy weather of this period of the year. We already shared with you a list of some of our favorite terraces so take the most of the day from sunrise to sunset. Find out our selection here.
Live music on some of the most emblematic buildings of Gaudi’s Hometown:
“La Diada” Open Doors: Landmark spaces in Barcelona open their doors to the public to celebrate the National Day of Catalonia, September 11. MNAC, Born Centre Cultural or Palau Güell are just an example of the venues that will have free access this day.
Maspons’ Night at MNAC: The Museum of National Art of Catalonia homages the photographer the 3rd of September at 8pm, coinciding with the complete exhibition, that night the museum will celebrate an open door night that will include a jazz concert in the Oval venue at 9pm and an open-air screening of the film “Visages Villages”. Oh, and of course, there will be a complete gastronomic offer to make this a unique soirée.
Picasso, the photographer’s gaze: The exhibition Picasso, the Photographer’s Gaze offers an immersion into Pablo Picasso’s universe through photography, a versatile form of expression that produces images so diverse that they possess all the facets of a creator who is at the same time author, model, witness and spectator of his work and life.
To close the exhibition, the 12th of September, the curator of the exhibition, Violette Andrés and the French photographer Bernard Plossu will come together to reflect on the exhibition and to dialogue with the director of the Museu Picasso, Emmanuel Guigon, about how photographers perceive art through the lens - and vice versa. This is an open door and free activity, highly recommended!!
The Catalonian Wine and Cava Show: The La Mercè festival in Barcelona will feature this year, from the 20th till the 24th, the 39th edition of Catalonian Wines and Cavas Show. This is the perfect opportunity to try out wines and cavas from the different wineries from the Catalan region. Held at a new location this year, in Ronda Sant Antoni, visitors will get to taste a wide range of wines and cavas and learn more about its culture of wine through a program of presentations and guided tastings.
Jazz & Food: As an appetizer to the Jazz Festival, a fantastic party will be held on Moll de la Fusta. Twelve hours of music paired with a spectacular gastronomic adventure. Eat, drink, dance and enjoy good music. This is Jazz & Food, the innovative proposal of the International Voll-Damm Jazz Festival of Barcelona that will take place next Saturday 28th and the entrances is totally free.
